I’m David Goerss. For several years, I offered professional genealogical services, but have backed away recently. However, I remain very involved as a hobbyist. I love discovering my family’s legacies in American history from early settlers to military service. I have a special interest in military records resources, because they help to reconstruct the lives of my ancestors, especially the particular dangers and adventures they experienced throughout our nation’s history.

RESEARCH
I enjoy not only conventional genealogical research, but have become especially adept at researching military service records for all branches (Army, Army Nurse Corps, Air Force, Navy, Navy Nurse Corps, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marine). It’s amazing what stories develop from our veterans’ detailed personnel and unit records!
I enjoy the surprises that emerge about the soldiers, sailors, airmen, and nurses in my family from Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, West Virginia, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, California, Nova Scotia, France, England, and Prussia!

WRITING
I enjoy contributing written work to The California Nugget, the bi-annual journal of the California Genealogical Society. You can read a couple articles in the Fall 2014, Spring 2015, and Fall 2015 editions as part of the “California Ancestors in World War I” series.
